Complete the qualifying exam 3. Complete proposal defense 4. Complete thesis defense We do offer scholarship to international students (but not for overseas compatriot student). Seminar on International Relations (3 Credits) 3. Research Methods (3 Credits) Other regulation: 1. Except for compulsory courses above, all students have to take at least one Ph. D. course (3 credits) from the department of Diplomacy 2.Some students might be asked to take some master courses to strengthen academic knowledge. * English capability certification examinees should access before applying proposal. (1) TOFEL iBT： 84 points or above (2) IELTS (Academic)：6.5 or above (3) TOEIC：over 850 points (included) (4) Having studied English taught professional courses overseas for over 1 year (included) during period studying in master's program, or obtaining a master's degree from an English-speaking country within the past three years C. Ph. D Qualifying Exam Qualification: 1. Study over 3 semesters. 2. Study more than 24 credits. When to apply qualified Exam? The office will announce at the beginning of every semester, please watch out for your nccu mailbox. About the Exam: 1. The Exam will take by hand writing, two exams. 2. One is for International Relations Theory and the other one is for sub-major(choosed from“International Organization,””International Political Economy”or“Cases of the International Court of Justice”). Each one will take 3 hours and 30 minutes. 3. Students cannot cancel the Exam within 30 days before the Exam day. To Get Further Information, please contact the office. D. Confirmation of topic of thesis/ advisor * Thesis topic and advisor should be selected and confirmed after passing qualifying exam. * Thesis advisor should be, in general, full-time(or adjunct) professor, associate professor, assistant professor, assistant professor of department of Diplomacy, NCCU. E. Proposal / Thesis Defense * Application for proposal of thesis could be put forward at any time during semester. (Fall Semester：start of the semester-1/31；Spring Semester：start of the semester-7/31) * Proposal defense is available to be held after being public reviewing for two weeks. * Master's program students are qualified for accepting thesis defense in the next semester after passing the proposal defense. * The proposal defense and thesis defense have to be taken in different semesters.
