Before the turn of this century, Israel had largely been plagued by the ghosts of the socialistic policies since its founding. In the last 25 years, however, Israel has seen explosive growth in a wide range of high-tech industry segments, including Internet software, cyber security, AI, automation, and military technology. As a result, within the same time interval its per capita GDP has grown more than three times to over $60,000 in 2025, exceeding Germany, UK and Finland. In this talk, I will trace the roots and trajectories of this incredible achievement, and touch on some of the cultural and political challenges facing Israel today.
