This event aims to deepen the understanding among students from Taiwan, Germany, and other countries regarding Germany and Austria’s politics, economy, culture, and their interactions with Taiwan. Taiwan’s interactions with Europe—geographically distant across the Eurasian continent—have remained relatively limited. In recent years, however, as global geopolitics are being reshuffled and the international landscape grows increasingly complex, Taiwan’s engagement with Europe and other like-minded regions sharing similar values has become ever more important. Yet, mutual understanding and exchange between Taiwan and European nations have not advanced fast enough to keep pace with these global developments.
We invite three professionals from Germany and Austria to share their insights, enhancing the understanding of NCCU students and the general public regarding both countries and their bilateral relations with Taiwan.
The lecture features three distinguished speakers from Germany and Austria, who will offer in-depth discussions on politics, economics, and cultural exchange:
Julian Goldmann (Head of Education and Science Section, German Institute Taipei) — Germany–Taiwan Political Relations
Nico Cron (Senior Manager for Market Entry, German Trade Office Taipei) — Germany–Taiwan Economic and Trade Cooperation
Christian Helbig (Director, Austrian Office Taipei) — Austria–Taiwan Cultural Exchange
The session will be moderated by Assistant Professor Pei-Lun Tsai from the Department of Diplomacy.
Amid today’s rapidly changing international environment, ties and cooperation between Taiwan and European countries are of growing importance. We invite participants to explore European affairs, and deepen their understanding of Germany and Austria.
All faculty and students are warmly invited to join us in broadening our horizons.
The venue will open for admission at 9:30 a.m., and the event will begin promptly at 9:50. Please be seated early.
