Welcoming Message

The Department of Diplomacy was established in 1930 in Nanjing, that time capital of China. It was the time when the Northern Expedition was about to go to an end and the country to be reunited. Central government of Kuomintang (KMT) was in need of new leaders and international affairs professionals, that’s how on the basis of Central Political School in Nanjing there was found a Department of Diplomacy. Since its establishment more than one hundred ambassadors, several foreign ministers and many political, business and academic elites have graduated from the Department.
Given the rapid development of the technologies, we are facing the era of high competition, and how the Department of Diplomacy reacts on those challenges makes it to be in one line with nation’s best international affairs institutes. The proper arrangements of curriculum helps the students to stay on top of the current foreign affairs, continuously master their skills and be mobile and highly competitive.
In addition to studying global affairs, the Department puts a lot of emphasis on understanding the matters of sub region as well, for such a purpose there is a special course in regional studies. This course is the most comprehensive one in the field and offers students nine areas to choose from: Northeast Asia, Southeast Asia, Russia, Eastern Europe, European Union, South Asia, Middle East, Africa, North America, and Latin America. In addition to taking the course, students are encouraged to study the language of the region as a second foreign language, which is useful for better understanding of culture, local politics and economic situation. According to the current situation, international affairs are under the big influence from international trade, thus there are several courses in the curriculum on economics to deepen the knowledge of students in this area as well. In addition, the Department also arranges practical courses by inviting professionals from various industries outside the school to share their successful experience with the students.
We sincerely welcome the students who are interested in international affairs to join the Department of Diplomacy. If you want to serve in this professional field, our Department will eagerly help you with it. If you want to become an internationally competitive and mobile, you are welcome to choose the Department of Diplomacy. With a deep understanding of international relations and the sub-region, second- or third-level foreign language proficiency coupled with expertise in international trade and economics, you will be able to follow your dreams in the field of international relations.
